COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (AR60604)

TUTOR:  MR. KOH JING HAO

This module introduces us to the basics of generating 3-dimensional computer drawings. Lectures and tutorial sessions are provided along with mini handouts to aid us in our learning process which I found really helpful. As I am new to the software, this module allows me to experiment and navigate them with ease. In the first project, we were to create a Revit model with architectural components such as roofs, walls, floors, curtain walls, doors, windows, stairs and railings. We were also taught how to create family files which will aid us in creating customized components for our building design. Besides that, we learnt how to document our drawings neatly using Revit documentation documents. I'm really grateful for this module as it introduces me to digital software in an informative and complete manner. For our second project, I've learnt to use 3DSMax to render our models which was surprisingly quite fun! I find it really confusing initially and had to attempt several times before I got it right but I'm glad it eventually worked out. I especially enjoyed the post-production process using Photoshop as it was really fulfilling to see the renders coming together to life.

I would also like to thank my tutor, Mr. Koh who has been really helpful in assisting us and ensuring that we are able to follow through with the lessons. He has also provided us with tips and advice when we faced difficulties during the process. Overall, this module has provided me with a headstart to mastering computer software as I proceed with the upcoming years in architecture school.
